WHY THIS SITE? |
||
| "Why this site"
may sound like an overly simplistic question, but it is one which needs to
be answered. There are many sites on the web devoted to preparedness and survival.
Of these sites though, how many teach this subject from scriptural principles?
None so far that I have found. Most sites teach how to kill and eat creatures
which are not kosher, prepare for three days instead of the scriptural principal
of working for six days and trusting by resting on the Shabbat as well as a
host of other subjects we will cover on this site. This project began for me when I was asked to speak at a Sukkot (Tabernacles) celebration one year. I had arrived at the campsite and joined the two hundred plus others who were there to observe this special time of the year. In the campground I saw tents from the local department store as well as very expensive motor homes. I checked in, arranged my belongings in my tent then went up to meet my host, the leader of the congregation. After a few minutes of catching up on life he asked me to come with him, as there was a problem he needed to attend to. We walked through the camp and soon arrived at a site and a sight I will not soon forget. At our destination were two men who no doubt were great athletes. One look at them and I quickly decided that if a football game were to happen I would be on their team or all of a sudden would remember an injury which would keep me out of the game! One of the men I quickly noticed was kneeling down at the stone fire ring. He had two slightly damp logs about eighteen inches long and five inches in diameter stacked on top of each other. He was holding a match under one of the logs and trying to build a campfire to keep warm for the night. As I looked onto this situation I, being an Eagle Scout began to laugh to myself as you may be doing now. The quiet voice of God caused me to cease my inward laughter as I looked on. He was causing me to look not through my own eyes, but through His. I saw that though these men may have been great athletes, in the days which are coming on the earth, they were not prepared to face the challenges. Had this been the real thing instead of in a campground they might possibly have been dead by morning from hypothermia. I saw that evening what He was desiring to tell me, the family of God is simply not prepared for the days ahead and if we are not prepared how can we be of help to those who are seeking physical answers which we can turn to spiritual answers? You may not have laughed when you read the above story of my friends and the fire or lack thereof. The reason you did not laugh is because you may not have made it through the night either if it was the real thing. You were brought to the realization that you too are not prepared. For you this web site and the teachings it will provide have been created. We must remember as we learn to keep our eyes on Him and our ears open to His voice. We are never to prepare out of fear, but out of His direction. The simple fact that you were directed to this web site should mean something to you. Second is to remember that what is learned is not simply for ourselves, but so we can teach others, earning a right to speak, not just into the physical aspects of life which are temporary, but the spiritual aspects of "Knowing Him and the power of His resurrection." Phil 3:10. These are aspects which are eternal. |
