URBAN PREPAREDNESS
(No Time To Snooze)

URBAN PREPAREDNESS (HOME ALONE)

Before Tragedy Hits

We are told to check smoke detector batteries and have fire extinguishers in key places such as garage, kitchen and bathrooms. What about it?

Do all members of the family know where utility shut offs are and how to turn them off? Are tools for these jobs readily available?

Do you have a fire escape plan?

Do children know the smell of propane and natural gas?

Can deadbolt locks be opened from inside without a key?

Has a meeting place been discussed if returning home is not an option?

So, where is that First Aid Kit?

Have local police and fire department numbers programmed into phones, especially cell phones. 911 may be overloaded.

During sleep you are most vulnerable. Have a flashlight and shoes next to your bed. Glasses should be placed in the same place next to your bed every night. If you wear contacts, a pair of glasses should be at hand as you may not have time to put them in.

NOTE: In times of disaster you may not think properly or quickly. You will only do what you have practiced!

Know your community and who you can trust! Protection? Who do you share with?

How many days will you plan to prepare for? _____ Number of people in home? ______
