MINDSET MATTER

EMOTIONAL PREPAREDNESS
Emotional preparedness is the bridge between the spiritual and the physical.

It is not what is in you pack, or what is in your head, but what is in you heart that makes you a survivor.

Most people give up within the first six hours of a survival situation.
In Hurricane Katrina 15% immediately took action, 15% resorted to violence, 15% wandered aimlessly looking for and taking direction from any voice that seemed to have authority.

What makes one man give up and die while snorkeling, with air still in his tank, yet another man lives on a raft lost at sea with no supplies for over seventy days?

Psalm 112:1-9 The man whose heart, (Hebrew would use the thought of the guts instead of the heart) is steadfast, trusting in God.

HOMEWORK:
The following movies are three of my favorites. Through their secular teaching we can learn great spiritual and emotional principals.
"REMEMBER THE TITANS"
"CASTAWAY"
"THE GUARDIAN"
(Note: Each of these movies are rated PG-13. Parental discretion is advised.)

In each of these movies the person or persons had to find something deep within themselves, something they did not know was there. We must do the same. Each of us have something within, which our Creator has placed there. He has chosen you and equipped you for "Such a time as this." We must allow His work to be completed in our lives. Phil 1:6

DISCUSSION
Name people in scripture who became more than they thought they were. In each life answer these questions.
1. Did they know all along the job they were called to?
2. Did each go through a time of testing their faith?
3. Name defining moments in their lives?
4. Did God ever make a mistake in His calling? Hebrews 11:39-12:2
